The Company trading for over 50 years supplies an established customer base of multiple retail, department stores, independants and contract furnishers. Serving a global market HT currently exports to Scandinavia, Japan and Mainland Europe.
HT-Collection was found in 1959 by Ensio Karjalainen. The company was called Huonekalutuote and the first factory was located in Anttilanmäki of Lahti, Finland.
In the beginning of 60's the production grew larger and the company moved to new facilities in Kukkila, Lahti. Ensio Karjalainen cooperated with the top designers of the time. Furniture designed by Rolf Nyman and Perttu Mentula were exported to USA, Canada, Sweden, Japan and Middle-East. HT-Collection was the pioneer on Finnish furniture production and design in international scale.
Until 70's the traditional wooden framed furniture was the only method used to build sofas. Ensio Karjalainen started to develop the technique to make molds and use polyurethane to build the frame. With this new technology and innovative design by Hannu Karjalainen HT-Collection thrived especially in Scandinavian markets. The polyurethane casting molds were manufactured in HT-Collection's new facilities in Vesala. Same technique was applied to make dining tables, chairs and sofa table. HT_Collection's production was larger than ever in the end of the 70's, when the company employed about 120 people.
The design of HT-Collection started to change towards more modern and simplified style. Until now the company produced almost solely leather furniture but at the 80's the textile started to rise it's popularity.
Textile continued it's rise and took over the leather as a furniture upholstery material. Leather furniture were mostly plain colour, but at the 90's colourful fabrics and graphic prints became popular.
